About Ashok Sir
A Beginning Rooted in Teaching, Compassion & Purpose
From the earliest days of my life, I have been drawn to teaching, guiding, and helping others understand themselves. My journey began over 30 years ago as a university lecturer at the University of Mumbai, where my students affectionately called me “Ashok Sir.”
They saw me not just as an instructor, but as a mentor and friend. The name stayed with me — because it reflected the teacher within me, long before I consciously recognized my calling.
Even when my life took me into the corporate world — across India, the Middle East, New York, and Canada — the teacher in me never left. In my role at Merrill Lynch International Bank (Bahrain), I trained and mentored staff and earned a sales teaching certification. Looking back, everything I did was rooted in teaching, even when I thought I was pursuing something else.
A Spiritual Awakening That Revealed My Calling
I was raised in a Hindu household where spirituality was part of daily life — the sound of temple bells, mantras, and the quiet presence of my father meditating for hours. We were taught practical spirituality: integrity, honesty, humility, respect, and seeing all people as equal. These values shaped my early inner world.
But life, as it does for many, took me through years of uncertainty and searching. I worked many jobs — 15 or more — always feeling that something was missing. Each job taught me what I was not meant to be.
Then, during a difficult period of unemployment in my late 30s, I fell into depression and doubt. Through meditation, a powerful memory from childhood returned: a spiritual experience guided by a teacher, during which Lord Hanuman appeared in vision and blessed me with the identity of a teacher.
I had forgotten this experience for decades.
But in that moment of deep suffering, it returned with clarity — reminding me of my true path.
Every setback and every job change became a lesson.
Every failure was a teacher.
Every struggle was directing me toward one truth:
My calling is to teach, guide, inspire, and help others find their own path to inner peace.
A Life of Service: Transforming Students, Families & Communities
Seventeen years ago, my beloved wife, Saraswathy, founded Student Success Solutions Inc., a tutoring and mentoring service grounded in compassion, discipline, and purpose.
She is the heart and core of our educational work.
Her gift is understanding children deeply — helping them build self-discipline, learning habits, focus, and emotional balance. She spends hours with mothers and fathers, guiding them to support their children with love and structure.
Together, we built a centre that has touched hundreds of families — not through marketing, but through sincerity, service, and genuine care.
Today, our son Amsuman contributes significantly to our teen leadership program Rise & Lead. His ability to connect with teens, articulate life lessons, and provide authentic guidance brings a unique dimension to our work with youth. As a university student himself, he understands their challenges and speaks their language.
